I noticed it, and I'm definitely intending to try the suggested
prophylactic treatment of 1 TBS Dial Antiseptic liquid hand soap/1
gallon water applied to rot-prone cvs in early spring before heavy
rains and hot weather set in. I've had BIG rot problems in the last
couple of years since I've gotten seriously interested in growing
irises. I've learned a tremendous amount from the folks on iris-talk
about how to eliminate or moderate some of the rot risk factors in my
garden, but I'd like to add the Dial treatment to my preventive
regimen.
I do have a problem, though, that I'd appreciate help with from you
other Talkers. I added a couple hundred new cvs to my beds last
year,
and I have no idea which of them might be too tender to survive this
winter or which might be rot-prone this coming spring (still a month
or so away here in northern MN). While I realize rot vulnerability
is
likely to be influenced by many cultural and environmental factors,
it
would nonetheless be extremely helpful to compile a list of rot-prone
cvs so I'll know which ones might benefit from the prophylactic Dial
treatment. Would you all be so kind as to send me lists, either
publicly or privately, of those iris cvs that have experienced rot
problems in your gardens?
I would be extremely grateful for any assistance.
