It's almost autumn here, just a few more days, and it's lovely, now, here in
Oz. We've just had the hottest summer for more than 90 years. Adelaide has
had 29 days where it has reacher 35C (95F) ot hotter(Dec-Feb). If we make
one more 35C day (before the end of the month) it'll be the hottest on
record. There's been some rain around but very patchy.
It looks like most of the week will be in the mid to upper 20s (75-80C) with
cool nights,my favorite sort of weather. Australian gardens are rarely at
their best in summer. In the hills here they're best in autumn and spring,
but in Adelaide where it's warmer, winter can be spectacular as well.
My Breakers is just coming into bloom, but that and Bountiful Harvest are
all the rebloom I've seen so far. However I notice a lot of TBs are starting
to send up increase so there should be rebloom soon. Most of the garden has
survived well, although some things have very brown tips, as much from
chlorine toxity from our salty bore than dryness. The roses are blooming
wonderfully after I cut them back in January.
