Potatoes can produce a severe allergic response, potentially fatal, in 
persons susceptible, especially new potatoes. In peeling potatoes, any green 
that appears on the tuber should be peeled away because it contains solanine. 
I have personally never had a negative response, but I saw one person go into 
shock who knew she had the susceptibility after eating green beans which had 
new potatoes boiled on top!

Fries are never likely to be made from new potatoes -- but don't eat the 
green!

Reticulata and Danafordiae and crocus are blooming here, and some daffodils. 
If we don't get some cold weather soon we could have a disaster if we get a 
late spring freeze. 7A 2000' altitude.
