Re: AIS: Geek Dinner

Hi Kathy,

Thank you for the invitation to George to speak at the Iris Society of
Austin in 2003. At this point George doesn't do email, so that is why I am
replying. We had received an invitation from Nelda Moore last September,
and I am sorry I had not answered it yet. She gave us January, February and
March, but I see March is gone.

Yes, he tells me he will be glad to do a program and JT for you probably in
January. We are planning on going on vacation from January 29 through
February 15, so depending on when you meet, it would have to be during the
first three weeks of January or after about February 20. We also have our
Region 14 Budget meeting usually the third Sunday of January, although it
has been known to be on the Saturday, and this year it was actually on the
fourth Sunday. I have to be at that, as I will still be RVP, and since I
travel with George on his speaking trips, that needs to be taken into
consideration. Of course, we do not expect any club to pay my way, so don't
worry about that.

At this point George does not have any other speaking engagements set up for
2003. Would it be possible for you to see if any of the other clubs in
Texas, or even in Oklahoma, would want to arrange for George to speak for
them? Then the cost could be shared between the clubs.

He will plan on doing a program on space agers and rebloomers, plus a JT,
also on space agers and rebloomers, if you would like.

Will you give my apologies to Nelda, for not answering her? Our shipping
season is not over until sometime late October, and then I am afraid I am
trying to catch up on everything--don't manage that very well, either!

Thanks, and I will be looking forward to hearing from you.

Margaret Sutton
