HYB: seeds becoming seedlings

Thanks, everybody, for your reassuring me from panic. I will keep
the faith.

But ever since I set the potted seeds out, buried in soil or set in
coldframe, Mother Nature has been doing exactly what I had done with
the fridge and faucet. So I'm thinking, why have I given these seeds
two winters? Why not just (as someone else advised in the archives)
keep the seeds in my unheated bedroom (her garage) until November and
simply plant them out, either potted or not, in good starting soil.
If MN doesn't come through with the requisite winter rain (unlikely
on this island), just water as usual. The frosts and light freezes
are basically what I did in the refrigerator. Doesn't this make
sense?
