I've seen no damping off either in my iris seeds, but I moved them
straight from the fridge to the outdoors, where they've been open to
the air.
I finally solved the persistent damping off problem with seeds sown
inside by finally going against the general instructions to cover the
sown moistened pots tightly with plastic wrap or worse until
germination. I next tried waxed paper, set loosely on the pots so
air could still circulate. That's done pretty well. But when I have
lots of pots sown as I do now, I don't cover anything, just check
them each morning and moisten as needed. Not a speck of mold.
