There was not a change in the medals that can be awarded, but there was a
change in the requirements to qualify for medals. It used to be that there
had to be at least three exhibitors. Now there must be at least five
exhibitors. That is a problem for small iris societies. One year, we had to
get someone go home and get a couple of irises to enter so we could qualify
with three exhibitors. Unfortunately my husband and I have to bring many
entries (75-100) in order to have a showing for the public. Some members
resent that we always win the silver medal, but how can they win when they
bring only 6 or 10 entries.
