CULT: freezes (was SPEC: douglasiana)

Well, ptuii...  it was about 15 here last night!  Another benefit of the
lack of rain is that lack of cloud cover has let night temperatures fall
below freezing fairly often, so growth is not as tender as it would be
with warmer nights.  I hope....

This is too early in the season for damage to iris flower stalk
primordia, still snugly undeveloped inside the rhizomes... [she says
wishfully...].  But not too early to do damage to foliage on the foolish
irises that had already started growing.  Opportunity for spring rot....
