As far as I understand plicata is color specimen with dark (from reddish to
dark violet blackish) pattern on light (white, cream, yellow etc.) ground -
always on hafts and usually at edges. Luminata is color specimen with total
absence of any pattern around beard, paler pattern on darker ground and,
as a minimum, a hint of paler edges. There is also luminata-plicata
pattern -
it is when plicata pattern on hafts and often at edges is added to luminata-
pattern in the middle.
