I divided a couple of midwest garden plots last summer that were planted in
2000 and 2001 and recorded the increase for each iris. One rhizome was planted
for each iris type and each year's planting was in a single plot. Growing
conditions were the same for each. Some were purchased from Oregon and the
remaining from our local club auction or Region 18 auction. Particular
hybridizers had good and poor performing irises in my garden during these growing
seasons. Based on this info I would not exclude an iris I wanted to add to my
garden based upon hybridizer. All increased, some just increased faster.
