Dana, for some reason, iris-photos let me read some of your posts for awhile, then started crashing again.  All the messages that are
intermittently crashing my computer are the ones with text on blue
background.  Sometimes I can get them to load, sometimes it says I've
tried to perform an illegal operation and shuts down the program.

Very wierd.

The only message that triggered an anti-virus alarm for me was the [Iris-Photo] message with " hello" in the subject.The attachment was MYDOOM virus.

Dana's messages (very helpful messages) all were read by Eudora, Mozilla Thunderbird as well as earthlinks own email reader.
so no help there.

Any updates or changes to your anti-virus program just before the problem started?
