Summary of germination results for 2002 pods germination. These seeds
have had 2 seasons of indoor winter plus one spring outdoors.
Total pods = 48
Total seeds = 1505
Germinated in fall 2002/spring 2003 = 166 seeds (this number is low, but
close - some died before I did counts)
Germinated so far this fall/winter/spring = 50 seeds
Total germinated so far = 216
Average germination 14%
100% germination for one cross - HARVEST OF MEMORIES X WHOLE CLOTH, 5
seeds in the pod.
No seeds have germinated from 8 pods. Eliminating those pods from the
calculations gives average germination = 16%.
13 pods have average germination more than 20%, only two better than
50%.
Not very good compared to the germination rates most of you get, but way
up from the less than 1% average I used to see.
There may be more later this winter/spring - some of these have just
started germinating.
The biggest seedlings from seeds germinated this fall are now 10 inches
tall - all of the early batch (first batch out of the fridge in Dec) are
at least 5 inches tall. Some of these early ones are from 2002 pods,
some from 2003.
