Welcome to the group, Cindy.Try to look at is as a fun challenge <g>. To make it even more interesting, tall bearded irises (TBs) are not only tetraploid, but their background can include at least 6 different species of irises.
The medians are even more scrambled.The best place to start is The World of Irises, available from the American Iris Society.
Lots more explanation/information in the archives of this group on heredity of pigments and patterns; some traits better known/documented than others. Some on rebloom (understanding in progress). For awhile, there was a forum on space age irises.
