That's why I use a lower case "oh" instead of trying to insert a degree symbol. I.e., -8oF. It looks funny, but at least you can tell it's not supposed to be 80. ;-)
<Okay, well, it didn't work..>Snow cover provides a lot of protection. I'm not sure how much, but around here, if we have 4 or 5 inches of snow, the ground usually doesn't freeze underneath. Unless it was already frozen before the snow!
