I spent the afternoon clearing chickweed out of seed germination pots from 2009 & 2008 pods, getting ready to bring some of them in to the sun porch for early 2nd & 3rd yr germination.
To my surprise, a few of them have one or two seedlings that are 2 or 3 inches tall. (Including 2 more from IMM X RED ROCK CANYON - yippee).
I assume these sprouted late last fall. Or this winter? Surprising to see that they've survived. In spite of the constant cold, temperatures have not been in the single digits here this winter, so I guess this qualifies as a zone 8 winter.
