One of our club members told me that storing irises in paper bags (she didn't use peat moss) dried them out and after a few weeks they showed it. They didn't look freshly dug. She would sell irises at the farmers market and wanted to sell them fresh-looking. Note, that we live in the desert with low humidity. Moist climates may not experience that problem.
