First Question??

O.K.! To start talking amongst ourselves I would like to know if anyone
has experience with Siberian Iris--I grew them very successfully near a
pond at my old house (all my iris growing has been in Williamsburg, VA
Zone 7--but almost 8), but was growing from plants given me by a friend.
Muskrats decimated that planting, eventually, so when I moved I bought
new plants. Acquired several on sale from Andre Viette's perennial
nursery--all named varieties, but most didn't come labeled (that's how
they ended up on the sale table, no doubt). These are planted at the
edge of a dry creekbed that is regularly flooded by rainwater. Soil is
rich woodland soil that is now in sun at least half a day year round.
These have survived--barely. I am puzzled by the contrast in experience
in the two locations--growing conditions, if any different, seem better
at the new location. I have several plantings of Iris pseudocorus nearby
that are thriving. Any ideas?
