I agree wholeheartedly with Tom, as I'm sure most others experienced 
with news groups and mailing lists do.  

While it's true that we might want to make some responses to 
personal addresses only (e.g. the answer to a specific personal
question which means nothing to others), one of the big values 
of the list is the ability for others to eavesdrop on questions 
and answers.  I'd rather hit the delete key a few extra times than 
miss out on some good info!
