I phoned the folks at Ensata Gardens they said" We are going to take the
money from the 412 people who sent in 24.00 ,close shop and move to Mexico
and live a life of decadence & leisure." WELLLLL not really. But ,the
gentleman who answered the phone said he wondered why I had sent in as much
as I did. I told him and he laughed. He said he would send the check back and
send me a free catalog They sound like nice people. Im looking forward to
doing business with them.

I think your Pacific Coast Hyb,s can use a lot of light where you live. Where
I live in hot dry So.Cal. the Pacific Coasters do well in half shade .And
dont mulch any iris .Yes mulch and damp weather can do an iris in quickly
.Have you gotten any dry weather yet ?.I wish we could get some of your rain.

Thank you for your nice note .Im really interested in the Japanese Iris,
even though I will have to grow them in tubs of water sunk in the ground.
Im planning to submerge pots of iris half way in to tubs of water . I would
otherwise use up too much water in our well drained soil .BUT ,I WILL grow
Japanese Iris.
I have joined HIPS & AIS and would like to know how to link up with the SJI
people. Im interested in growing some of the single JI .I have an interest
in Japanese art & would like to grow iris like the ones I see in Japanese
block prints and ink brush paintings. Im not sure what the JI species are.
I see the name I ensata. ,but Im sure that other species are being used in
these hyb,s. There a lot of Japanese living near but there doesnt to be much
in these iris. They are more interested in Bonsai
Thank you again . Doug
