Rot & State/Zone Please!

I suffer from the dreaded iris rot here in the 'burbs of Buffalo, NY.  We
deal with it in different ways....some people perform surgery...remove the
stinkin' mess and allow to dry....some do those steps and then sprinkle with
Comet cleanser...some do the surgery, then drench with a 6:1 Water/Clorox
mixture...some dig the iris up and cut and dry...some use various
antibiotics.

I don't know when my iris rots WHY it's rotting.  I have my suspicions, but
mainly I just try some of the above methods... and would be happy to add
voodoo and a live sacrifice (slugs?  bunnies?) if I thought it would help.

I would appreciate anyone's thoughts on the subject of TB rot.... why it
happens - how to tell what kind it is.  What rots  (I THINK I find trends in
certain colors (orange?), and hybridizers)

Another important piece of information, no matter WHAT we're writing about
here, is where we're speaking from.  I'm as guilty as the rest... but when I
read "the air is dry here"... unless I actually do some research in my bio
files (too lazy), I don't know where "here" is.  This is especially
interesting when it comes to something like rot -
