Reply to David Neumeyer re growing I. setosa. Iris setosa is one of the
easiest irises to grow provided you keep soil where it grows lime free. It
will grow in many types of soil, and will do wonderful in good garden soil.
I grow several forms in the sun. I gave my friend Carol Warner a start of a
white form and she has grown it in a woodlands setting for many years. It
has thrived and increased for her in that locale, and was seen and commented
on by many people when we had the AIS national convention here in 1991. I
obtained the white form from seed I grew which I had obtained from the
Species Iris Group of North America (SIGNA). Lots of fun to grow them from
seed. Hope this answers your questions. Clarence Mahan
