Linda, Most modern TBs have highly complex pedigrees. You can use the Check
Lists (1939, 1949, 1959, 1969, 1979 and 1989) (all now available through AIS
sales manager) and the R & I (Registration and Introductions) booklets (you
use these for irises registered after 1989). Most breeders will only name
the cross that produced the new iris, and it would be too much to ask for
them to include the complete pedigree...you have to make the pedigree
yourself. But it is easy (if time consuming) to do. One excellent book, but
one must search for in old book shops and horticultural used book lists, is
Wilma Vallette's Iris Culture and Hybridizing for Everyone (Chicago 1961).

Go to it! Clarence
