Nonbloom--Kentucky Derby

I'm interested that many of you (who grow many more iris that I!!) have
lots of non-blooming iris even after many years. I am curious if anyone
has any specific advice about Kentucky Derby. Two years ago I planted
several new-to-me bearded iris varieties obtained from local iris
growers. All but Kentucky Derby have bloomed and it has made a large
clump. It is planted between two other varieties that did bloom
(unfortunately these are both yellows that I purchased unnamed) so I am
wondering if it is slow to bloom or if it might need more sun or other
pampering that I have not provided. I am hoping it will bloom this year,
but want to move it or do something if it doesn't.

BTW, I have a variety that I believe is fairly old (bicolor white with
purple falls--my father-in-law gave it to me 13 years ago--don't know
how long he had it) that bloomed and increased phenomenally in my old yard
(a few miles from my current home). I planted a couple of healthy rhizomes
here and it bloomed well then succumbed to rot. The original plantings at the
old house are all still fine--so I am definitely a believer in cultural
conditions being a key to rot!

P.S. I am beginning to think I will have to start joining some of these
iris societies--can one of the Virginians on this list suggest a place to
start??
