dennis, steve, clarence - pardon me if i make a total idiot of myself with
this, but i thought maternal cells of critters have dna (plus other
cytoplasmic stuff) outside the nucleus that gets passed along. seems like i
remember that plants do that kind of thing even more (isn't corn genetics
famous for that stuff?) so, it is logical that some characteristics would be
'undiluted' from the maternal side.
