Bobby Wilder, writing about Iris danfordiae:
|Anyone know where they are
|produced in such abundance to be able to get each year blooming bulbs.
The Netherlands. Dutch growers manage to produce seemingly infinite
quantities of blooming-size bulbs, even of types that are notoriously
difficult to perpetuate in gardens. I have always wondered how this
is done. I even wonder about tulips and hyacinths: I have never seen
any procedure for producing a reliable supply of top-size bulbs in
the garden. What _do_ they do?
