Steve and was it dave pries? - so, to summarize, make sure i've got this
straight, and then get back to watching the grass grow, as far as we know,
the only well documented examples of maternal inheritance in plants are in
corn studies and variegation (leaves? flowers?) in ?iris. i assume that's
because most of the research has been done on corn? are the bits and pieces
of extranuclear cytoplasm more or less the same in iris and corn?
and now you've made me start wondering what the physical and biochemical
characteristics of varieties are that makes a rot organism be successful in
using a host plant and a host vulnerable to becoming mush.....
