I just have to comment on this subject.
I just received my January 96 issue of the AIS Bulletin and there was a nice
little surprise waiting inside. The membership fees have gone up
close to 50%!!!!! From $12.50 to $18.00!!! This is not how to get new
members, if fact at this price level I think that the AIS will find their
membership numbers start to drop off. If not for the dollar increase
alone, people should find it irritating on the principle itself of a 50 %
increase. Anyone out their get a 50% increase at work this year?? Is
inflation at 50% or even anywhere near it?? How about 3-4% inflation and
a raise at your place of employment. Even well educated people are
lucky to even have jobs and keep them in this economic climate. When I
first joined the AIS approx 4 years ago, membership
was, I believe, $10.00. Now we are at $18.00? Also, no explanation in the
current bulletin as to the reason for this. I think the membership should
have an explanation at the very least. Yes, I'm not real pleased about
this, dollarwise or on principle. I'll wait for the hate mail.
