cutting their flowers off seems so mean!
i finally had the bright idea to look up where mrs danford's iris and i.
reticulata are from. the only general source books i have are old - bailey's
manual of cultivated plants and taylors garden encyclopedia - bailey's
doesn't even include danfordiae. and the world of iris book, which says they
both come from turkey (what zone is turkey?). taylor's says reticulata is
from the caucasus and danfordiae from asia minor. not very helpful for
propagation tips.
also, the world of iris says that danfordiae doesnt last because it makes new
little bulblets that choke each other to death.!!
