Greetings,
I've gotten a couple of questions here about the conversation we have been
having regarding wide crosses and traces of evidence in the literature of
improbable ones.
I want to make it clear that my position is not an advocacy, and I am not
endorsing any reports in any literature hereto mentioned. I have not made any
attempt to compare reports in the BIS book, Garden Irises, or the Bulletin
articles or any other resource in detail. I personally would not be surprised
to discover inconsistencies and errors since that is what often happens with
data moving through time and multiple hands. It might be a worthy project for
someone with an abiding interest in the question to do such an analysis to
see what if any insights hindsight may offer. The problems always associated
with proving the negative should be anticipated.
What I do endorse an open-minded approach to all such information, wherever
it is found, and especially in sources which may be presumed to be informed
and sincere, until it is clearly shown to be unreliable.
