You are correct. The space is not there.
It should be. The "always eligible for an HM unless/until it wins"
philosophy for registered and introduced iris seems (to me) less likely
to change than the ballot, even though write-ins are a major pain for
the vote counters.
Curiously, just today Mike Lowe (AIS policy chairman) stated that he
thought that no iris had ever won an HM after its period on the ballot.
So perhaps my guess is wrong, and the decision for the judges' ballot
will be the same as for the Symposium ballot--to delete write-ins. But
at least in theory I hope not.
