Re: Digest Number 838

From: Jeanne Holley <irisarian@yahoo.com>

Thank you all for the clarification on new
introductions. I'm much relieved that I will have
time to distribute my "baby" to others to grow, and to
evaluate before introduction. It's beautiful and
different and I want it to have a real opportunity for
others to see and grow. I have not asked Dave
Niswonger to grow it since he is so busy and has a lot
on his plate right now. Clyde Hahn who has Rainbow
Gardens is cutting his garden way back and El Roderick
is spending most of his time and effort on Daylily
Hybridizing now. I didn't want to impose on them, so
I decided after this year's bloom I would send
rhizomes to irisarians in other areas for some
evaluation.

We have trouble at our shows just getting the judges
to fill out the voting forms for new seedlings. Last
year they examined the seedlings, selected one for
the Head Table and then walked away without filling
out the forms. (Sigh...)

Again thanks for the input and I will put photos of
the iris on a webpage of mine and will send the url
for it if anyone would like to see it. (Keith warned
me that it's like having your child criticized when
people examine it, but I'm ready to deal with it.)
