Rita,
As Show Chairman for our local iris show I always do the same, i.e.,
collect the the blue EC ballots from the judges before they leave the show
site. By doing so, I am only following directions, as the following is
clearly printed on the ballots themselves:
"Ballots should be completed at the time of the show and handed to the Show
Chairman".
Not every judge chooses to fill out a ballot - they may not think that any
seedling entry is worthy of an EC other than the one designated "Best
Seedling in Show", but we generally get a good response, and I have a sheaf
of EC ballots to send in with my show report.
We do have a degree of control over the judges, as we always take them to
lunch after they are finished with the judging of the show.
