OT:CHAT Wall of Iris
From: "Starlord" <starlord@QNET.COM>
As I don't have the subject tags sitting on this new machine and
couldn't see it at the same time anyway, I'll take a shot in the dark.
Firgure might as well as bring you all up to date on the Draveway
Garden.
It has grown far beyound the little beds I first set up, now from one
side to another, it's about 45 paces by 35 paces and I've done
something that at lest to me sounds good. I've been moving all my
potted iris out to the field and have been piling soil/dirt up around
the pot. That's right I leave the Iris in the pot and the dirt goes
around the pot, up to the top edge. I figure that first the dirt will
keep the pot itself from freezing and hurting any roots that have
grown. 2nd, during the summer it should keep the pot cooler and not
overheat the roots. And during both times I can water each pot and not
have to have the water run all day. I can add feed to the water, etc.
I've clumped a few pots together and now with the dirt piled up they
look like some strange mounds, and then I've got an <--- made out of
one bunch and then I'm putting the rest of my pots in a winding line
which I'm calling the 'Great Wall of Iris'.
Now if only even 1/2 of all this grows and maybe blooms this year,
I'll have the wildest display of flowers in S.Cal. as I've been
planting Canna,Ammy's, and will be adding seeds very soon. All along
with the 30+ Onions and a few spuds I've put in too.
One Strange Garden! and in the Desert no less.
