This is true but I have had a TB rebloom,IMMORTALITY and
at least two SDBs, REFINED and BABY BLESSED, two MDBs, CRADLE
DAYS and DITTO and one I. pumila (SUSLIK). I have also had
rebloom on Siberians off and on - ILLINI ENCORE, MY LOVE,
HIGH STANDARDS, HARSPWELL HAPPINESS, etc. Also, I have had
some Japanese irises that sort of took a break from blooming
and kept on throwing buds and blossoms right up to the first
head frost...notably, RASPBERRY GEM and LITTLE SNOWMAN.
Maybe it is a question of selection? 99% of my irises do not
rebloom but I am making a concerted effort to obtain more
rebloomers and give them a chance and select out the ones
that do rebloom and try to make crosses with them. I am
particularly interested in Siberian rebloomers which are
sorely lacking.
Cheers,
Ellen
