Re: CULT: Irises in pots 3 years running

From: Maslon@aol.com

hello, im christopher maslon in columbus ohio.
i have been on the iris talk for some time silently listening and learning
from all of You all.
i have done iris in pots for 3 years the great thing about it is CONTROL.
you can control, what you have and irises grow here in pots above ground its
snowing out side i have little worry unto that this spring the rhizomes with
be pushing new leaves. i have had, with some success a rhizome iris maggot
break down, if a worm is knowledged to be in the pot withthe rhizomes a
instant pull up of the pot and out comes everthing to be cleaned and
inspected. the other great thing is" what is this rhizome or that rhizome"
well with pots you need little guess work what goes in the pot comes out. On
the ground level there is a well this could be '' or that could be-- one
problem i have had the cycle of pulling pots and thinning out over crowded
rhizomes. iris need space and a pot is confining. i use a nursery 7 x 12 "
which is avalible to wholesalers, it is often hard to find, i also mark the
pot and use a old window blind and #2 pencil to mark each pot with anotebook
of what is where.
my successses to you all anyone who woul dlike to privatly email me can
to ask more questions.
