As an addition to putting it on the lists, maybe, but not in lieu of same. I
check that site from time to time, but I don't see it as an arena of
fast-breaking news.
I think any announcement anywhere should probably include an e-mail address
of a contact person. It would only be polite to let the host of the talk know
you were coming and bringing that vanload of friends so they would have
enough chairs and petit fours, as it were.
