Dear Willem, I am so excited! For the second time i have been able to get
something on this monster from the website (if that is the term for the
wwws). And your garden display is beautiful! From your commercial name and
your own name, I gather you are/have been originally from The Netherlands -
one of my favorite countries, with good friends here and there.
If you had the purple iris before '91 and it is the early style of
rebloomers, it could be JULY SUNSHINE among many other possible early
purples. ROSALIE FIGGE (Jane McKnew '91) does rebloom in Canada (Ottawa,
zone 3) and I would be interested if that could be a possibility - it has the
more modern form and it reblooms just about everywhere. It was hybridized
by a friend who is, unfortunately, no longer living. She had the potential
of being an outstanding hybridizer.
I was also interested in your comment "ones we see flowering are our
favorites" That was an expression I used years ago when someone asked me
which of my grandchildren was my favorite. I had a quick inspiration and
said "the one that is with me at the time" which was true as well as
diplomatic! Rosalie nr Baltimore zone 7 ryfigge@aol.com
