Re: TB & SB Iris

From: RYFigge@aol.com

BIG ERROR! How COULD I do it???!!! No wonder I couldn't sleep last night
after I finally went to bed!! I should have gotten up and tried to figure out
WHY. As a result, I woke up late this a.m. - at least for me, and
immediately had a horrible thought - and realized I had not proof-read what I
finally wrote! Not being too adept with this monster, sometimes I write
out in longhand as I did last night (a hangover from my poor deserted
typewriter) and then with my mind on something else that had upset me, I
copied it with half-an eye, the other trying to go to sleep, with my cat on
my lap trying to tell me it is past bedtime -- in that way it is easy to slip
to the next line or---! Anyhow, any dimwit knows that an iris with the name
"sunshine" would have to be some shade of yellow or orange or else the
hybridizer is the dimwit!
I hope no one reads the other email - !! I do know that JULY SUNSHINE is
yellow -- I meant to suggest PURPLE DUET (in the '60s) or PURPLE OF TYRE (in
the '80s I think), but more likely DARKSIDE, which according to my old
records did bloom in zone 3, but I don't have it anymore. So many of the old
ones were a deep reddish-purple - can you give a more detailed description at
the next bloom season and maybe someone can help identify it more accurately.
My deep apologies! I'll probably never live this down, and won't dare show
my face on iris-talk again! Covered with sackcloth and ashes, red-faced
