Just wanted to toot my horn and brag about how my Iris cretensis has been
in almost constant bloom for the whole month of January. It started
blooming a few days before New Year's, and has continued ever since. It's
such a pleasure to have flowers this time of year when everything is so
miserable outdoors....frigid cold, snow, ice, yuck. Normally snow is fun,
but not when you've got wind chills down around -10 to -30 deg F. No, I've
been quite content to stay indoors, plant my seed trays, and read my books.
Getting back to my irises though, it looks like it's bloom streak is about
to end because I don't see any new buds coming up. But that's okay,
because in a few weeks my bulbous irises outdoors will start to bloom.
Yes, spring is almost here!
