No so long ago there were local garden editors with dirt under their fingernails,
who had experience in their 'expertise,' but it seems now these canned articles
are cranked out from archive files at the appropriate season yearly
with no apparent regard to locality or practicality. I think the
editors are just looking for something to fill the space. Time was
when locals owned the newspaper; now they are all parts of large
chains, and the gardening information comes down the wire from the
home office who knows where. But, occasionally, there is something
in print that is worthwhile like a recent article on reticulatas.
You probably can't go wrong with these and there were lots of
interesting ideas presented in their behalf. Cute little fellers,
they are!
