Rebloomers-Cultiv.

Laurie Frazier mentioned the reputation of Immortality for taking longer to establish/rebloom. In general, the rebloomers seem to grow/multiply faster than oncers, which is part of why they reach blooming point (size) oftener. Immortality, here, at least, seems to be one that reblooms better when it is moved. Mine will sit and sulk without rebloom the second and third year in a clump, but as soon as it's moved, seems to bloom much more heavily... (Tho it may have to do with the amount of fertilizer/alfalfa pellets dug into the new spot.)

Carol, welcome to the list--you mentioned the necessity to spray with Cygon to control borers. I've found that using the granular Merit (active is imidiclorprid) is both more convenient and is reputed to be more environmentally acceptable. Don Spoon mentioned it in a recent AIS Bulletin article (2000) but I can't find the specific publication. (suspect it's one of the two my counter-surfing dog ate most of.) Anyhow, you may want to check into it. I only applied it once, and it seemed to do the job. (Have had years when 5 sprays of Cygon didn't control the borers really well--still had baby borers in Aug-Sept.)

Nyla - in warming St. Louis (where we're nearly snowless for the first time since early December, and it feels more like Zone 6!)
