The online database is extreemly usefull. As I'm doing research on
plicatas, I did a search for "Vanity" and came up with all varieties
with Vanity as an ancester that had been registered in that time
period. I was then able to look at crosses with plicatas and found
lots of plicata offspring. Thus I could see that Vanity carries at
least two plicata genes (most likely glaciata genes) and may very well
be a glaciata. this is the sort of reasearch that can't be done with
the R & I books. Well worth the effort.
