Dietes is a plant genus within the Family Iridaceae (Iris Family). There
are multiple species and confusing synonyms of this rhizomatous
perennial. Dietes is sometimes confused with the genus Morea (common
name is Butterfly Iris), which are corms that produce a similar type of
plant, a greater variety of colors, and a different bloom habit. Dietes
is also known by the common names of Fortnight Lily and African Iris.
