Hello Talkers,
As first contributions to my Patterns for Dummies project, Randy
Squires was kind enough to send me several photos. One is of CIRCUS
STRIPES. Randy, may I post it to iris-photos for those who may not
be
familiar with this cv?
I have some questions regarding the color pattern on this iris.
Please help me determine how this one should be properly identified.
1. Is CIRCUS STRIPES a plicata? If it's not a plicata, why not?
Does the purple color around the edge of CIRCUS STRIPE's petals
define
it as a plicata moreso or less-so than the dark veins ... or not at
all?
2. Are "veined", "striated", and "striped" the same thing, and if
not, how do they differ?
3. When discussing petal edge patterns, which of the following are
synonymous: band, ring, edge, halo, rim?
Thanks for any and all opinions,
Laurie
