RE: HYB:Diploid Irises with Arils and Arilbreds

>>The diploid TBs are so inferior to modern tetraploids in nearly every
way, the resulting hybrids might not be terribly attractive.<<

Steve,
My personal feeling is that diploids of every species simply haven't been
used enough to know for certain what new forms may be lurking undiscovered
in the gene pools. It seems from the registrations of most irises, very few
parents are at the root of most modern hybrids.

Rather than taking the road most traveled, you just might find something
the early hybridizers missed.

Good luck,
Christy Hensler
