Roger, log on to http://members.rogers.com/cdn-iris/ for information on the
Canadian Iris Society. Currently membership is very cheap, I believe $35 for
3 years and you get a newsletter. You have been given Sandy's address in
Ottawa, he will help you get started. I believe they have a sale in the
summer if Bedford is not too far away.

The thing to do is one of two things, go to nurseries in June and see what
irises they have in pots, buy the colour(s) you like and plant them. Or get
catalogues, see CIS site for info, order what you like (and can afford).
They will come early August with planting instructions, do that as soon as
possible.

Get hooked on the Goddess of the Rainbow, there are hundreds to choose from.
