I've just had a note included with some seeds I received from the UK which
notes that seeds are really having a hard time. Much of it is to do with the
attempt to control kudzu-like problems for occuring. The thing is, the brush
is broad indeed that is painting the seed-exchanging world. There is a lot
of discussion about it within the NARGS community, since a lot of
inter-continent trading is done. We need common sense to prevail. Nobody
wants another kudzu, right Walta? But, a tiny rock garden bun isn't likely
to devour the south. I think it's interesting that some of the most noxious
weed problems were initially championed by the USDA and other governmental
groups.
And yes, a seed is a seed. Iris are not excluded.
I really don't want to follow the Australian model, where nothing gets in
without a hefty phyto charge.
