Arizona has a dry heat. People may not feel it, but iris do.

I think the main problem is that the blooms lose moisture faster than
the roots/stem can replenish it. Even if it is as hot in NC, the
evaporation rates are much less.

PS  Have asked here before, but anyone know if self seeds from
paperwhites can yield almost identical plants but with yellow trumpets?
No answer last time.
