I agree.  Better early.  The standard around here is to get bearded irises
planted by mid August.  But a few years ago, Sandy started planting in July.
They do much better.

I try to make sure all irises are in the ground before the end of July, 
but Mpls is a zone warmer than I.  They might be able to extend planting 
to mid-Aug safely.  Better early than sorry, though.
