Since there was no comment from my discourse in dialect about
excerpting messages from this forum for Flight Lines, I may not
have been understood.
As my January 03 issue of the Bulletin has not arrived, I am looking
at the October 2002 issue for making a few comments.
First, on page 78, the heading is simply Flightlines compiled by
Peter Wexelman, New York.
How many 'ordinary,' casual, or new readers of the Bulletin even
know what Flight Lines are or where this information comes from?
No credit is given. No background information is provided. The
information is 'just there.'
I don't know if this forum that was 'iris-l,' 'iris-talk' and now just 'iris'
is really a robin at all. Of course, it 'flies' differently, but was it
established as a robin? I don't remember. Maybe, it doesn't
matter.
Is Flight Lines the official mouthpiece of online robins or paper
robins? Are paper robins dead? I am concerned that the editor of
Flight Lines rarely participates in the online discussions.
Are LAIRIS, SIBROB, ARIL ROBIN, and the other online discussion
groups exempt from being quoted?
What I do know is that a lot of people do not post to 'iris' because of
fear of being quoted. So many have told me so, I cannot begin to
count them. This leads me to believe that this is one major reason
traffic on 'iris' has declined greatly as what we say can appear in
print without our permission. Our words may come back to haunt
us.
If somebody has the AIS rules and regulations for quoting excerpts
from internet chatlines, discussion groups, or 'robins,' would they
please post them?
